SUJAWAL:42 villages of Taluka Jati of district Sujawal including Jati Town, Begna Mori, Hussainabad, Tarr Khowaja, Raj Malik- the home town of PPP MPA Mohammad Ali Malkani, Baran Abad, Chuhar Jamali, Jati Chok, and other areas have been without electricity for the past 5 days as this ordeal is likely to continue for few more days.
The officials of Hyderabad Electric Supply Corporation HESCO are probably unaware of the tribulation the people of the coastal region are facing for the last few days as continuous suspension of power supply has brought business activities to stand still in these areas.
Taluka Hospital Jati, the only major health facility of densely populated Taluka is also bearing harsh consequences of this worst power wrath as the X-ray service at the hospital has been suspended besides that the sweltering heat had made this worse for the patients admitted there. “We use torches or candles to examine patients during the night shift”, said the Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
A similar situation prevails in the educational institute of the Taluka where there is no alternative source such as a generator or solar panel through which temporary relief could be provided to the students as a result they too are getting an education in a suffocating atmosphere.
A line-man appointed by HESCO for Jati and its adjoining areas told this correspondent on condition of anonymity that abundant use of electric compliances in shops, factories, and houses by power thieves usually causes the main electricity line to fall adding that since electric cables and poles had eroded in many areas of the district they had to deliberately disconnect the power supply to these areas during the rainy season to avoid any untoward incident.
Muhammad Aslam Thaheem a concerned citizen said that the coastal region was already facing a water crisis that had now worsened due to power suspension.
