Election from KP for vacant Senate seat, Shaukat strongest candidate

Peshawar : Elections for the vacant Senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being held today.

Polling for the election is taking place in the old hall of the Provincial Assembly which started at 9 am and will continue till 4 pm. Shaukat Amirzada of ANP, Muhammad Saeed of PPP and Zahir Shah of JUI-F are contesting in front of the party.

In the 145-member provincial assembly, PTI has 94 members, JUI-F 15 members, ANP 12, PML-N 7, PPP 5, Balochistan Awami Party 4, Jamaat-e-Islami 3 and PML-Q candidate. While the number of independent members is 4.

To be elected a senator, a candidate would need more than 50% of the votes out of 145 members.
