Here it’s again; Govt increases the price of electricity by Rs1.95 per unit

The federal government dropped another bomb on the citizens due to inflation and announced to increase the price of electricity by Rs 95 per unit.

Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan has also blamed the previous government for making electricity more expensive and said that the PML-N government had laid economic mines for the incoming government.
Omar Ayub said that the net of compulsive payments was spread and most of the forced payments and revolving loans were in the power sector.

He said that PML-N had maliciously entered into agreements with power companies.

Federal Minister for Development and Planning Asad Umar said that when the PML-N left the government, these complex payments were more than Rs 900 billion annually.

It may be recalled that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had on December 30 last month approved an increase in the price of electricity by Rs 1.6 per unit.
