Iraq: Landslides near Karbala, several people buried under debris

Many people were buried under the debris in a landslide near the Iraqi city of Karbala.

During the rescue operations, the rescue personnel pulled out 8 people, including 3 children, who were buried under the debris.

The spokesman of the Iraqi Department of Civil Defense says that 6 to 8 people are still likely to be buried under the debris.

According to the British newspaper Guardian, the spokesman of the Department of Civil Defense said that the landslide incident occurred near the Iraqi city of Karbala at the place of “Qatara-ul-Imam Ali”, a shrine attributed to Hazrat Ali.
