Pakistan Day is being observed across the country today

The nation celebrates Pakistan Day today with simplicity amidst an outbreak of the novel coronavirus and with the pledge to fight the disease as it spreads across the country.

All kind of public gatherings, including the showpiece military parade, have been postponed as precautionary measures.

The Pakistan Day parade has been rescheduled owing to bad weather in Islamabad.

According to the army’s public relations wing, the parade has been rescheduled due to rain forecast by the Pakistan Metrological Department in Islamabad for the next two days.

The Day will dawn with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. It is a public holiday today.

Special prayers will be offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country.

Pakistan Day is observed to commemorate the passage of the Lahore Resolution on this day in 1940, under which the Muslims of the sub-continent set the agenda of achieving a separate homeland.
