Taxes are likely to be imposed on shopkeepers in the next fiscal year’s federal budget.

In the important meeting chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to review the tax proposals in the light of the demands of the IMF, there is a possibility of deciding to impose tax on 2 million shopkeepers in the federal budget of the next financial year. Sources say that a special scheme will be launched to tax shopkeepers on the terms of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under which tax will be levied on electricity bills for shopkeepers.
