‘Vengeful politics’ reason behind PDM govt’s failure: Bilawal

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed his views on the failure of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led coalition government, attributing it to “vengeful politics.” According to him, the previous ruling parties lacked a focus on serving the public and instead engaged in settling personal scores and revenge politics after coming into power.

Speaking at a PPP workers convention in Chitral, Bilawal emphasized that the traditional political tactics of old politicians would only contribute to the nation’s sufferings. He noted that the coalition government failed to achieve the goals set by his party due to this approach.

In preparation for the upcoming elections on February 8, Bilawal initiated his campaign to garner public support. He asserted that his candidacy in the 2024 general polls is not based on promises and slogans but on his performance, citing his experience as the country’s foreign minister for 16 months.

Addressing the issue of aging politicians, Bilawal urged them to step aside and make room for the younger generation in politics. He suggested that old politicians should retire from active political roles and make space for new voices.

Bilawal criticized the 70-year-old politics of the veteran politicians, attributing damage to the country. He expressed his desire to see a PPP member become the prime minister and asserted that his party’s manifesto contains solutions to various national issues, including inflation.

Concerned about the direction Pakistan is heading, Bilawal vowed to complete his late mother Benazir Bhutto’s unfinished mission with the support of the people. He also announced his intention to persuade his sister, Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, to contest elections from the party’s seat in Chitral.
