By our staff reporter
BADIN: A man has been booked on charges of raping his 5-year-old daughter and 9-year-old niece near Golarchi in Sindh, repeatedly drugging the two young girls and their mother.
A police team led by SHO Shaheed Fazil of Rahu Police Station arrested the man from Chak No 36 near Golarchi town on criminal assault charges on the other-day. The arrested, Mushtaq Arain, confessed to having raped the two minor girls.
The complainant of the case, the mother of one of the victims, recorded a statement with police officials in which she accused her husband of first raping his niece, who was living with the family as their step-daughter, before raping his own minor daughter.
“The rapist first raped my elder daughter and then assaulted the younger one after drugging me,” she alleged.
The mother said that she had married the accused after the death of his elder brother several years ago. She alleged that the accused had first raped his step-daughter and then his biological daughter after drugging them on several occasions. She said that she had first caught him red-handed while raping his step-daughter.
After her serious objections and a struggle, he drugged her and raped his daughter. She added that she demanded ‘severe punishment’ for her husband, who had made her life ‘miserable.’
Mr. Shahnawaz Chachar, the SSP Badin, told the media that police nabbed the accused during a raid, adding that once arrested, the culprit had confessed to the crimes. He said that a first investigation report (FIR) under the relevant sections of Pakistan Penal Code was registered.
The victims were taken to Taluka hospital in Golarchi town for a medical exam.
Initial results confirmed the assault on the girls. Police officials said that the victims, as well as arrested accused, would be taken to DHQ Hospital in Badin to collect medical samples.
