Former president Hamid Karzai, Dr Abdullah Abdullah announce to stay in Afghanistan

KABUL: Former Afghan president Hamid Karzai and Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Dr Abdullah Abdullah have announced to stay in the country amid chaos and uncertainty after the Taliban take over.

In a joint statement, Karzai said they would continue talks in cooperation with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and will play their role for peace in the country.

“Our efforts will be successful,” Karzai added.
