Laar Abadgar Forum holds march against water shortage

BADIN: The Laar Abadgar Forum held march against prolonged water shortage in the district. The march began from Naoon Manak Wah and concluded in front of Tando Bago press club led by Nasrullah Jarwar, Soomar Lund, Raees Mushtaque Nizamani, Sikandar Lund, Fareed Nizamani, Manzoor Lund, Mumtaz Lund and large number of growers. They also paid sit-in along Jhudo road. While talking with media personnel representatives of growers said out of 22 drains of Tando Bago and 54 drains of Badin district the excavation was initiated at only four drains but rest of the drains including L 16 drain, Sheikh Manzoor drain were ignored for more than two decades. They said carelessness for excavation of those drains has caused fertile soils ruined due to overflow and breaches in drains and crops were destroyed. The protesting growers said water scarcity has caused small growers were facing starvation and agro economy was damaged. They said thousands of acres of agricultural land was destroyed of water shortage across the district. The growers said pet animals were died and people were compelled to migrate else areas. The growers said incompetency of Irrigation department and SIDA has also created hardships for them. They demanded early supply of water and excavation of drains in Badin district.
