SUJAWAL: Despite the sweltering heat, the members of the Chalka tribe, social activists of Jati town, and people from different walks of life staged a long march against the illegal occupation of ancestral agricultural land of Chalka community measuring 680 acres by an influential person and a former bureaucrat. After covering the distance of around 10 kilometers on foot the protesters reached Jati the Taluka headquarters to record their protest against the tyranny of influential land grabbers.
The residents of village Rawal Chalko alleged that Malik Nasir Arian and a former bureaucrat Ghulam Hussain Abbasi have illegally occupied their ancestral land stretching over 680 acres and have fraudulently transferred the title of ownership in their names.
Mohammad Chalko said that it was their ancestral land and the only source of their income that was in the clutches of an influential person who was being backed by all stakeholders of the area and they had turned a deaf ear over their pleas.
Razzaq Chalko said that the armed goons had been deployed at the agricultural land harassing the villagers to retreat from their stance. “We will keep resisting the atrocities of two influentials”; he vowed.
Social Activist Adil Laghari said that people of Rawal Chalko village were under the shadows of weapons despite that they had opted to struggle for their legitimate right. He further said that the villagers had time and again approached the area police for action against the land grabbers and their goons but to no avail.
“A conspiracy has been hatched by the rulers of Sindh to deprive natives of their lands and resources to settle non-natives on their place but we will leave no stone unturned to force them to undo their ulterior strategies,” said Syed Wafa Shah.
The protesting villagers urged IG Sindh Chief Minister Sindh and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take action against influential land Grabbers and their facilitators.
