Islamabad High Court rejects New Year’s request to stop fireworks

The citizen had requested to withdraw the NOC issued for 12 o’clock tonight and the counsel for the petitioner had taken the position that the Deputy Commissioner had issued NOC for the night of 31st December, GT Road is also with him therefore the fire Fireworks should not be allowed. The petition said that fireworks are displayed for 30 minutes at major shopping malls in Islamabad which is visited by a large number of people and due to this there are also traffic problems.

The petitioner’s counsel also said that the youth start one-wheeling and various other activities.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah remarked during the hearing that it happens all over the world, not only here, it has also happened in Saudi Arabia, let the people win.

The court later dismissed the request to stop the firework, declaring it inadmissible.
