Shehla Raza urges collaborative efforts to deal disasters in the province

BADIN: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader & provincial Minister for Women Development Sindh, Shehla Raza has said, it was a natural disaster that brought devastation in the province and Sindh Government cannot deal with it alone, it can be tackled with collaborative efforts including NGOs & key stakeholders.
She assured that the rehabilitation work has been started by Sindh Govt and everything would be set in a short time saying that this year’s rain has been more than our expectation and the province has been affected the most.
“The solid strategy has to be decided in advance to deal with the floods’, Syeda Shehla Raza added.
Adding she said that Sindh Government is building ‘modern style houses for the flood victims of the province in the rehabilitation phase so that the houses of poor people can be protected of heavy rain and flood’s damages. ‘There is a need to be with the people in their irony days,’ further she added.

Responding the question, Shehla Raza expressed that Population Department of Sindh has also more needs to work better than before, especially in rural areas. ‘It is necessary to mobilize rural women that the space between childbirth is very important for the health of child and mother’ she expressed.

On the occasion, Special Assistant to CM Sindh, Tanzila Um-e- Habiba said that the survey of losses and damages of heavy rains and floods in the district is initiated, after its completion soon after which the rehabilitation work to be started.

Ashfaq Ahmed Soomro, Executive Director, Research & Development Foundation said that the they prepared a directory with support of all the public and private institutions in the district, with the objective of getting assistance of the relevant departments for resolving the problems faced by women, children and disabled people of the district.

On the occasion, Dr. Sher Muhammad Nohrio, District Health Officer, Abdul Ghafar Khoso, Deputy Director Social Welfare, Sanaullah Leghari, Kashif Ali & others officers of concerned departments were present.
When provincial minister for Women Development, Syeda Shehla Raza and Special Assistant to CM Sindh for Information & Technology, Tanzila Um-e-Habiba also visited the flood affected village, Hayat Khaskheli near Jhudo town.
