BADIN: Sustainable development of rural areas to be assured by the active participation of women of rural areas. Key stakeholders must join hands to provide the assistance to poor peasants amid to boast up the economy of the country.
These views were expressed by Jennifer Ankrom, Country Director, Action Against Hunger (ACF) while visiting the rural areas of the district Badin under SKala project implemented by Laar Humanitarian and Development Program (LHDP).
She enunciated that women of rural areas are key to strengthen the economy of the country and participation of the women should be assured at all levels adding that no development was possible without participation of women adding that government and others concerned should focus more on women empowerment to ensure sustainable development.
Jennifer Ankrom added that ACF with its partner LHDP were assisting the marginalized segment of the society in rural areas specially selected revenue villages of the SKala project of district Badin adding that modern techniques of the agriculture farming and drought resilience agriculture farming were being introduced through conducting capacity building events for farmers when knowledge was being disseminated through establishing the farmers field schools in the target area of the SKala.
Adding she said that fifty-four thousand trees of guava, mangos, Jamn, Jujube, Moringa and others tree samplings were being provided to the community under the green Pakistan campaign when hundreds of others trees of the guava and jujube were also planted through demonstration plots by community.
Earlier, Jennifer Ankrom, Country Director, ACF along with Zahoor Ahmed Palijo, Iqbal Hyder Qambrani, Qaisar Azam Soomro, Sawan Khaskheli, Abdullah Saraz and has conducted meeting with community men and women at village Nanji Kolhi, Tando Bago and visited the demonstration plots and High Efficiency Irrigation System (HEIS) at Shadi Large and also visited the field of Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO).
