20 injured in Truck-Coach collision near Thatta

THATTA: At least 20 people including women and children were injured when a coach carrying picnickers collided head-on with a truck near Makli-Thatta bypass here on Thursday. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Thatta where the district administration had declared an emergency.
According to onlookers the truck went out of its driver’s control while negotiating a sharp curve and collided head-on with the coach coming from the opposite direction, carrying picnickers hailing from Karachi who were on their way back.
Upon getting the information Assistant Commissioner Thatta, Nizam Jatoi, and SSP Thatta Dr. Imran reached there to inspect the rescue operation that was being carried out by the police teams and Volunteers of Peoples ambulance Service.
The area SHO said that those who were stranded inside the coach had been pulled out safely but their condition was critical. Adding that the truck driver managed to flee however they had arrested the driver of the coach as both of them were responsible for the accident The injured included Ali, Shabir Ahmed, Hameeda, Samina, Akhter Jan, and Sabina.
