Awareness session concerning Senior Citizen Act held in Sukkur

SHIKARPUR: An awareness session concerning Senior Citizen Act-2014 to spread awareness regarding world health day was convened at a local hotel, here on Wednesday.
Speakers including Abdul Sami Unar, Ms. Sabiha Bhutto, and Ms. Sajida while talking regarding theme building a fairer, healthier world discussed health problems, diseases facing by older people, and act of Senior Citizens Welfare Act-2014 passed by the Sindh Assembly in 2016 for the welfare and protection of senior citizens adding the act states that the senior citizens shall be given extraordinary facilities / privileges including senior citizen card, free of charge entry in different places including museums, libraries, parks, and other recreational facilities, separate counters for them at hospitals, banks, and concession in medical and medicine charges; separate medical wards for them; and membership of organization of senior citizens, exempted for any deduction of income tax, arranging training workshops for easy earing, Pakistan BaitulMall will contribute to helping out the Senior Citizens in case of illness, Government will build old age houses.
Speakers stressed upon the rulers, bureaucrats, and other high-ups to play their role to implement the Senior Citizens Act-2014 for the welfare of the Senior Citizens.
Sodho James, Rahim Bux Jamali, AK Soomro, Adeel Alvi, Arif Qureshi, Hakeem Jatoi, and senior citizens participated in the program.
