Eid ul Fitr Commences Today in Pakistan

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has declared that the Shawwal moon has been sighted in the country, indicating that Eid ul Fitr will commence today (Wednesday). This announcement was made by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the chairman of the prominent moon sighting body, after a meeting held in Islamabad. During a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Azad stated that the decision was made based on reports received from various regions across the country. Alongside members of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, representatives from the meteorology department, Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), and the Ministry of Science and Technology were present at the central moon sighting committee gathering. Additionally, meetings of zonal committees took place in the provincial capitals of Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta.

Meanwhile, in India and Bangladesh, Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Thursday, April 11, as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in these countries. The Imams of Delhi’s Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Mosque confirmed on Tuesday that Eid will be observed in India on Thursday due to the absence of moon sighting. Similarly, the National Moon Sighting Committee of Bangladesh declared that Eid will be celebrated in the country on Thursday.
