Pakistan cricket team batsman Fakhr Zaman has been conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant in the Pakistan Navy.
According to Pakistan Navy spokesman, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant on Fakhr Zaman at the Naval Headquarters Islamabad.
A Pakistan Navy spokesman said that Fakhr Zaman was given this honorary rank for his outstanding performance in the field of cricket and his commitment to the Pakistan Navy.
A spokesman for the Pakistan Navy said that Fakhr Zaman joined the Pakistan Navy’s Operations Branch as a sailor in 2007. During his career, Fakhr Zaman won several awards for Pakistan Navy in the field of cricket.
In the International Defense Cricket Challenge Cup held in Australia in 2012, Fakhr Zaman represented the Pakistan Navy and was named the best player of the tournament.
The Pakistan Navy spokesman said that Fakhr Zaman has also been awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. Fakhr Zaman has also set several records in international cricket so far.
Addressing the ceremony, Amir-ul-Bahr congratulated Fakhr Zaman and his family.
The Naval Chief said that Pakistan Navy was playing its role for the promotion of various sports in the country and would continue to support the players.
The ceremony was attended by military and civilian officials and PCB officials, as well as former cricketers and Fakhr Zaman’s family.
