Imambargah attack case, two accused sentenced to death twice

KARACHI: Karachi’s anti-terrorism court has ruled in the 2016 grenade attack on the Imambargah in Sharifabad.

The anti-terrorism court sentenced two accused Ishaq alias Bobby and Asim alias Capri to death twice and also sentenced the accused to 10 years imprisonment for injuring 25 civilians in the attack while the accused were sentenced to a total of 35 years. A fine of Rs 35 lakh was also imposed.

The accused had carried out a cracker attack on Imambargah Dara Abbas in October 2016 in which Faraz Hussain was killed and 25 others were injured.

Initially, the case was classified as A class for non-arrest of the accused.

The court also ordered to award certificates of appreciation to the investigating officer and other officials for presenting the evidence properly.

The convicted accused have also been convicted by a military court in the murder of well-known Qol Amjad Sabri.
