Lost LB elections in KP due to incompetence : PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that losers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections due to incompetence, future recommendation or bribery will not be tolerated.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was received by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan in which Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ali Amin Gandapur and others were also present.

Sources said that in the meeting, the Chief Minister presented a report on the failure in the recent local body elections in which the reasons for the failures were stated.

According to sources, the report said that KP lost the election due to mismanagement, members of their own party fought the election against each other.
Sources quoted the report as saying that traditional politics and hereditary issues were also the cause of defeat in the local body elections while distribution of tickets was also cited as the reason for failure in the local body elections.

According to sources, the report said that the party had failed due to lack of best candidates, local PTI leaders disagreed with the nominees and the party did not appear organized in the local body elections.

The Prime Minister expressed his indignation over the failure in the local body elections and said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is our base line, we lost here due to internal incompetence.

He said that no recommendation or bribery would be tolerated in the next elections.

According to sources, the Prime Minister decided to select his own candidates in the next phase of KP and directed the Chief Minister to organize PTI workers.

The Prime Minister said that we have to learn a lesson from the results of the first phase, the internal differences of the party benefited the opposition.

It may be recalled that in the local body elections to be held in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on December 19, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has defeated its opponents.

Three of the four cities won mayoral seats, including Peshawar, the PTI’s provincial capital.
