KHAIRPUR : A meeting of the Steering Committee of Office of the Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Shah Abdul University, Khairpur was held at Vice Chancellor Secretariat. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor chaired the meeting.
Talking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that formation of Steering Committee aimed at to get the advice and input from the community and other relevant forums to streamline the ORIC. He said that we are striving to make effective liaison with the industry and academia and to develop collaboration with research and development organizations.
Prof. Dr. Samina Rajper, Director ORIC briefed the audience that ORIC is operational at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in line with Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. She said that purpose of this meeting is to develop five-year Strategic Research Action Plan to develop, expand, enhance and manage the University research program and to link research activities to the educational, social and economic integration with community.
After detailed deliberations, the members stressed the need to prepare a five year strategic plan and the same shall be submitted to the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. The members recommended that indigenous projects of research may be initiated by the ORIC to benefit the community and society at large. Moreover, seminars, conferences, capacity building workshops may be organized from this platform. The women empowerment, community engagement may be given priority.
Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr. Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro, C.E.O, Sindh Rural Support Organization, Dr. Agha Nadia Pathan, Director Institute of Gender Studies, Mr. Malheer Pato, Project Director Economic Zone, Khairpur, Ms. Saira Solangi, Program Coordinator, Marvi Rural Development Organization and Mr. Khadim Hussain Mirani, Executive Director Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy attended the meeting.
