KARACHI: Muslim League-Functional leaders Mehtab Akbar Rashdi and Akbar Shah Rashdi joined the PPP here on Thursday.
Mehtab Akbar Rashdi called on Pakistan Peoples Party leader Faryal Talpur at her residence. Provincial Ministers Saeed Ghani, Imtiaz Sheikh and former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah were also present on the occasion.
Faryal Talpur said that Akbar Rashdi and his family have made a good decision, they will get respect in PPP, this is an old family.
Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that many MNAs of PTI will join PPP any day they want, PPP votes and seats have increased in every election. Khurshid Junejo, Nada Khuhro, Nazir Ahmad Baghio, Ziaul Hassan Linjar, Tariq Anwar Sial, Shiraz Rajpar and Ghulam Mustafa Leghari were also present.
She had been a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, from June 2013 to May 2018.
Mehtab earlier known as Mehtab Channa was born on 3rd March 1947 in Naudero, district Larkana.
She earned the degree of Bachelor of Arts from Government Girls College Hyderabad. She received the Bachelor of Education and the degree of Master of Arts in Political Science, both from the University of Sindh. She also did Master of Arts in Political Science from University of Massachusetts on the Fulbright Scholarship.
She served as teacher at University of Sindh for some time and then was appointed as Director Institute of Sindhology Jamshoro. In 1981, she married Akbar Rashidi, a Bureaucrat. Later, she herself joined bureaucracy and started heading several departments including education, information and culture.
In 2004, President of Pakistan awarded her the Pride of Performance for her services.
