Prime Minister approves increase in salaries of government employees

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved an increase in the salaries of government employees.

According to sources, a government committee comprising Sheikh Rashid, Pervez Khattak and Ali Muhammad Khan called on Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to sources, in the meeting between the Prime Minister and the government negotiating team, the officials of the Ministry of Finance gave a briefing and detailed information about the burden on the national exchequer due to the increase in salaries. ۔

Sources said that the Prime Minister, after briefing the Finance Ministry officials and the negotiating committee, approved the increase in the salaries of government employees, but this approval would also be sought from the Cabinet.

According to sources, approval for the pay hike will be sought from the cabinet through a circulation summary, after which a notification of the pay hike will be issued.

It may be recalled that government employees in Islamabad yesterday protested against the pay hike and tried to march towards the Parliament House on which the police charged tear gas and batons at the employees and arrested several people.
