Two miners killed in accident near Thatta

THATTA: Two miners were killed while two others were pulled out in an unconscious state after a coal mine caved in accidentally near the meeting railway station in the Jhumpir area of district Thatta here on Thursday noon.
The deceased miners were identified as Mahboob Ali Pathan and Gul Wahid Pathan, their bodies were shifted to Rural Health Centre Jhirk where the heirs of the deceased refused to allow post-mortem of the bodies.
Faqeer Gul and Dawood Pathan the other two miners sustained critical injuries and were referred to Hyderabad in an unconscious state. The police said the deceased and injured miners were natives of swat.
Residents told reporters that over a dozen miners worked every day inside the coal mine but at the time of the incident, only four miners were working inside. They further said that the department of mines and minerals had leased out that coal mine to Umar Pathan that caved in following an explosion.
The residents also took part in the operation carried out by rescue teams that lasted for around two hours. The residents also demanded the protection of miners.
