THATTA: The Provincial Minister for Mines & Mineral Development, Public Health Engineering and Rural Development Mir Shabbir Bijarani visited the coastal areas of district Thatta to review the arrangements made by the District administration following the peril of Tauktae cyclone present in The Arabian Sea here on Monday.
Mr. Bhijarani has been appointed focal person by the Chief Minister of Sindh to monitor the arrangements made in district Thatta following the looming disaster.
He held a meeting with the stakeholders of district Thatta to intimate them about the guidelines issued by the Sindh Government amid cyclone emergencies.
He told the meeting that the Sindh Government was well-prepared to cope up with the challenge that had emerged all of a sudden.
He said that; Though the direct threat of cyclone had lessened but the risk of heavy rains was still intact adding that it was the responsibility of the Government to take all required measures to tackle the catastrophe and it was making efforts to stave off the prevailing disaster.
MPA Riaz Shah Shirazi, MPA Haji Ali Hassan Zardari, Jam Owais Gorham, District Commissioner Thatta Usman Tanveer, and others attended the meeting and briefed about the arrangements made in their respective constituencies.
While talking to reporters after the meeting MPA Syed Riaz Shah said that; Thatta had faced natural disasters including floods, cyclones, famine, and heavy rains in the past as well and as an elected representative of the area he would put all his efforts to protect his people from frontal calamity.
MPA Ali Hassan Zardari said that the district administration was trying to ensure the safety of Fishermen living alongside the coastline and for that they were in contact with fisher folk organizations.
