SUKKUR:Train accident near Rohri, rescue operations continue, down track partially restored, up track may take hours to restore, railway officials, woman killed in accident identified , 30 people including women and children were injured in the accident
At a location of 490/2 km between Mando Dero and Sangi railway stations near Rohri, rescue operations are underway at the site of the accident on the Karachi Express from Lahore to Karachi. The track has been restored and trains are passing through it. However, work is underway on the up track and railway officials say that it may take a few more hours to restore the up track. The women who were killed in the accident have been identified. Their names are said to be Azmi’s wife Sabir, resident of Landhi, Karachi, who was on her way to Sahiwal from Karachi, while 18 people, including women and children, were injured in the accident. It is to be noted that in this accident which took place between Saturday and Sunday night, Hash came in which more than 8 bogies of Karachi Express suddenly derailed and overturned, as a result of which one woman was killed and more than 30 people were injured. It is not yet known, but railway officials say The sources said that the accident took place due to breakage of couplings between the bogies. Due to the breakage of couplings, the bogies were separated from each other and the bogies behind were overturned due to coupling breakage.
