Dynamic Political Worker, Poet, Journalist Suraj Sujawali Passes Away

SUJAWAL: Son of firebrand poet Sarvech Sujawali, Information Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party district Sujawal. journalist and poet Sooraj Sujawali breathed his last in the early hours of Sunday after battling long with COVID-19 at LUMHS Hyderabad. He was admitted to Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad around 10 days ago when he had breathing difficulty after he contracted the virulent disease.
According to doctors his lungs and kidneys were badly infected and his condition started deteriorating with every passing day. The pale of gloom hung over Sujawal as soon as the news of his death reached here. People from different walks of life expressed their heartfelt condolences to his relatives.
PPP MNA Ayaz Shah Shirazi, MPA Mohammad Ali Malkani, Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Rehana Laghari, Sattar Lohar Dr. Aslam Azad, and others expressed deep grief over the death of Sooraj and called it a huge loss to Sindh.
Zulfikar Sarvech who was known as Sooraj across Sindh was a dynamic political worker, Poet, and Journalist. After the death of his father Sarvech Sujawali and his brother Habibullah Sangi, he carried the legacy of his father and brother. He compiled poetry of his brother and father and got their anthologies published after their death. His family faced ignominious political victimization during MRD when along with his brothers and father he was sent behind the bars for playing an active role in that movement. He also remained on the forefront during the movement against the Musharaf regime
He was affiliated with different Sindhi dailies as a district correspondent and was currently serving as President of National Press Club Sujawal. He was a staunch supporter of journalists’ rights and always raised his voice for them.
He authored several books comprising his poetry, Sindh Kare Wes Me was one of his famous books of poetry in which he paid poetic tribute to slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto.
The successor of Sarvech Sujawa”s legacy Sooraj Sujawali was laid to rest at Bukhari Shah Graveyard next to his father and brother amid mass grief and pain. His funeral prayers were attended by people from different sections of life.
