Senior citizens’ right awareness session held in Shikarpur

SHIKARPUR: An awareness session was held concerning the Senior Citizen Act-2014 in passed by the Sindh Assembly in 2016 for the welfare and protection of senior citizens. This act states that the senior citizens shall be given extraordinary facilities / privileges including senior citizen card, free of charge entry in different places including museums, libraries, parks, and other recreational facilities, separate counters for them at hospitals, banks, and concession in medical and medicine charges; separate medical wards for them; and membership of organization of senior citizens.
Ms. Sabiha Bhutto, Sami Unar and other speakers said that senior citizens have many rights and a constitution has also been made, but there is a dire need for implementation of laws made in the Senior Citizens Act-2014 so that they could take a sigh of breath.
Sultan Rindh, AK Soomro, Rahim Bux Jamali, Adeel Alvi, Arif Qureshi, the senior journalists of Shikarpur, and a large number of senior citizens attended the program.
