SUKKUR: Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Prisons, has said that it is the mission of the Sindh government to make the jails of Sindh province a correctional facility. When they get out of jails, society will accept them and look at them with a good eye. He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Sukkur House along with Sindh Chief Minister’s Special Assistant Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh. Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Prisons, said that it is proposed to shift the Children and Women Jail in Sukkur District Jail out of the city which will be presented in Sindh Cabinet and Assembly including Chief Minister Sindh. The existing plot will be used for the betterment of Sukkur city, in which museum, clean drinking water supply, drainage and park schemes are under consideration. He said that after the passage of the law on prison reform in 2018, the prisons are improving and the law is being implemented. Replying to a question, Provincial Advisor on Prisons, Ijaz Khan Jakhrani said that since he took over the ministry, the cycle system in jails has been abolished which has helped in curbing corruption and efforts are being made for further improvement. And nowhere have there been incidents of torture or ill-treatment of prisoners. On the occasion, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh said that we are trying to set up a new international standard jail in Sukkur and we are grateful to the provincial advisor for his efforts in reuniting the old Sukkur. Pirzada Park has been established on the plot. He said that we are trying to work with the prisons department in development schemes for the betterment of the citizens including drinking water and drainage in Sukkur.
