HYDERABAD: The poet of People Hassan Dars was remembered on his 10th death anniversary and in this regard, different events were held across the Larr region of Sindh Including Hyderabad, Badin, and Jamshoro where speakers eulogized his contributions in the field of poetry.
Hassan Dars a born poet who penned down all aspects of society through poetry but romance and attachment with Sindh were an integral part of his poetry. The multi-dimensional poet became popular across the province within a short period because of his poetry that according to several poetry lovers carried a calmative effect.
Dars was an important poet of the post-Shaikh Ayaz generation. He was among very few poets who came out of the pervasive influence of Shaikh Ayaz — a giant of Sindhi poetry — and developed his distinct style and inimitable language.
Professor Ghulam Hyder Laghari for the first time found a hidden poet inside him and started grooming his skills. He used to take him to different gatherings where he was given a chance to read the verses of his poetry.
He was lovingly called the poet of people or sometimes the poet of love buds. Despite having the reputation of a romantic poet Hassan wrote revolutionary poetry in Sindhi to create awareness among the people regarding their rights during the Martial law imposed by General Zia-Ul Haq.
A book containing his famous poems Hassan Dars Jo Risalo was published after his death by the culture department. Several renowned Singers including Sadiq Faqeer, Sajan Sindhi, Manzoor Sakhirani, Saif Samejo and others made their name by singing his poetry.
On 16 June 2011 when he was on his way back home he had a road accident that left him injured critically. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Hyderabad where he succumbed to his injuries. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Tandoallahyar.
