Training workshop for media reporters held in Jacobabad

JACOBABAD:  Community Development Foundation CDF with support of Trust for Democratic Education & Accountability TDEA and FAFEN organized a two days training workshop for the district reporters of print and electronic media on ” Responsible and accurate reporting of Health and disaster related issues and optimal use of available digital tools and social media platforms ” here at Jacobabad. A large numbers of print , electronic media reporters from all around the district participated in the training while renowned journalist and human rights activist Maqsooda Solangi facilitated training online. The trainer delivered lecture on Democracy , free speech, journalism , Media laws and ethics: journalists rights and responsibilities on day one and Digital tools for journalists and ensuring safe journalism on day two through presentations and group work. Speaking on the topic Maqsooda Solangi said that print media is limited with the changing digital era while social media is more effective and wider tool for the media personnel, we all should use the social media and digital tools for reporting especially in the situation of disaster and present Covid 19. By using social media tools for reporting we can effectively monitor the government response and policy implementation for a responsive and accountable governance. Before this Nadeem Bahrani and Hina Brohi of CDF shared the objectives of training workshop and shared that conducting this workshop aims to empower and equip rural journalists for better reporting and making governance accountable. In the end Jan Odhano, GM Soomro, Shabir Pechuho and Nasrullah Naich distributed the certificates among the participants.
