Beware of the fourth wave of Corona!

By: Anwer Roshan Ali

Pakistan has been named the third country after Hong Kong and New Zealand in the list of countries that have successfully dealt with the deadly epidemic 19, which has claimed more than 3 million lives and wreaked havoc around the world, but soon after these government successes. The fourth type of delta virus is sounding alarm bells worldwide. For the past two months, reports of his presence in the beloved homeland have been circulating, which now seems to be intensifying. According to global experts, this deadly virus spreads faster than others and stays in the body longer. Experts believe that Pakistan could face a situation similar to India’s if precautionary measures are not taken. After the first case of Corona in Pakistan was confirmed in March 2020, the tide was strong from April to August, during which the month of June was the most intense. The second wave appeared in late October and lasted until February 2021, March 3 to June 3, after which the government last month relaxed restrictions on public places, including educational institutions, and instructed the public to continue implementing SOPs on their own. However, following a warning from NCOC chief Asad Umar three days ago, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday expressed concern over the fourth wave of Corona, warning that it would escalate if the public did not exercise caution. Given the severity, the government will have to resort to lockdowns and tough decisions again. He appealed to the nation to observe SOPs on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha like last year and wear masks. “If we take precautions now to avoid government sanctions, we can save our people from a new wave,” he said. The Prime Minister said that unfortunately we do not make vaccines in Pakistan so it will take time for us to provide vaccines to our entire population but we have a large quantity of it available so the people should take advantage of it. The Prime Minister said that if we get out of the fourth wave of Corona virus, we will save the country from disaster. These views of the Prime Minister are an attempt to fulfill the responsibilities with his team in the context of protecting the nation from Corona. Observations of the first two strains of Code 19 indicate that they are more prevalent in European and American countries after China, while the Delta (Indian virus) is now engulfing most Asian countries. It is now widespread in India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia, with a daily population of 1,500. The Pakistan Medical Association has expressed concern that negligence in the implementation of SOPs on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha could lead to its spread. International experts have warned that by the end of August, the Delta virus could be active in 90% of Corona cases in EU member states. The fact is that as long as there is a single case of corona in the world, it is a threat to the entire human population, which has changed four forms so far. Although international organizations and experts are wary of the future, this is not enough. It is imperative that developed and rich countries also voluntarily help the people of poor and developing countries to provide free vaccines.
