BADIN: Pricey poultry and rising chicken meat prices has become a constant concern for consumers across the Badin district including Tando Bago, Talhar, Matli, Golarchi, Kadhan, Seerani, Khoski, Pangrio, Shadi Large and other localities. In Badin, the price of chicken was recorded at Rs 420 to 450 per kg for meat sold by poultry sellers and remained unregulated due to lack of effective checks on prices and meat merchants were charging exorbitant rates to earn maximum profit. While the consumers have expressed their concern in connection of price hike of various essential commodities and injustified soaring rates day by day. While talking meat merchants said that price of maize, the main component of the poultry feed has gone up over twofold simultaneously poultry medicines had registered 100 percent increase and all those factors added to their production cost. Meanwhile, they said some investors have abandoned poultry business, causing prices to surge. It is pertinent to mention that before Holy month of Ramadan such irregular prices of chicken meat and mutton has worried the consumers in Badin.
