Maulana Din Muhammad Wafai

Today is death anniversary of seasoned scholar, academic, writer and poet Maulana Din Muhammad Wafai. He also actively participated in Khilafat Movement.
Born on 4th April 1894 in Village Khattee (کٽي), District Shikarpur, his father’s name was Khalifo Hakeem Gul Muhammad Bhatti. He studied Sindhi, Persian and Arabic from Maulvi Mian Muhammad Alim, Maulana Muhammad Qasim, Maulana Khadim Hussain and Maulana Ghulam Umar.
He started his career as a Journalist in 1916 from Ranipur, when he launched a monthly magazine “Sahifa Qadria”. He then launched magazine “Alkashif” in 2018. He started newspaper “Al Waheed” in 1920 and “Touheed” magazine in 1923. He was also associated with newspaper “Alhizb” and “Azad”.
Maulana Wafai apart from being a journalist was a renowned writer. History, politics, religion and Sufism were his favorite topics. He served as member of Editorial Board of the literary Magazine “Mehran”. In 1940, Sindh Government nominated him as a committee member of editors for “Complete Sindhi Dictionary”.
He wrote many books in Sindhi, Persian and Arabic. He died on 10th April 1950.
