China announces reclamation of Taiwan

Chinese President Xi Jinping says the process of reuniting Taiwan with China will be completed.

According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation, Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that the process of reunification of Taiwan will be peaceful, but at the same time warned that the Chinese people have a great struggle against secession. In response to the Chinese president’s statement, a statement issued by Taiwan’s presidential palace said that the fate of the island is in the hands of the people living on it.

Earlier in the day, Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen had said that Taiwan did not want a military confrontation but would take every step to defend its independence.

The Taiwanese president expressed hope for peaceful, stable and cooperative relations with neighboring countries and said he would defend his independence in a democratic manner.

It should be noted that China considers Taiwan as its part while Taiwan considers itself a separate state and there has been a long-running dispute between the two countries over this issue.
