Iran vows to avenge Israel’s killing of senior nuclear scientist

TEHRAN: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has accused Israel of killing senior nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizada, saying Iran would retaliate in a timely manner instead of hastily.

In his address to the nation, President Hassan Rouhani accused Israel of involvement in the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizada and said that the assassination of Fakhrizada shows the frustration of our enemies and the depth of their hatred, his martyrdom does not slow down our achievements. Mohsen Fakhrizada was the head of the research and innovation organization at Iran’s Ministry of Defense and was one of Iran’s most senior nuclear scientists, one of the founders of Iran’s nuclear program.

Mohsen Fakhrizada was a professor of physics at Imam Hussein University in Tehran, while also being an officer in the Revolutionary Guards.
