SUJAWAL: The 44th death anniversary of renowned educationist, social activist, and notable figure of district Sujawal Imamdino Khowaja was observed yesterday in village Hussainabad a few kilometers away from Sujawal.
Imamdino Khowaja is perceived as one of the illustrious educationists of yesteryear who took practical measures for creating awareness about the importance of education in the district Thatta and Sujawal.
He was posted as an elementary teacher in Daro from where he went on to become Education Supervisor. During his tenure as a Headmaster at Government Higher Secondary School Jati, he worked relentlessly to persuade people of the area to educate their children.
He was of the view that education could change the fate of the poor population of the area and for that he took efforts during his lifetime by persuading government officials for opening schools in low-lying areas of district Thatta and Sujawal.
His son Imdad Hussain Khowaja told this correspondent that he was the first gazetted officer of Jati Taluka and was known for his honesty and commitment towards his profession.
Renowned politician Sindh,s former Minister for education Piyar Ali Allana, Academician Qalander Shah Lakiyari, Aziz Jaffrani and many other notables were part of his friend circle.
As a social reformer, he pioneered community development and successfully developed community coordination among local communities besides that he held key positions for his Community.
On 26 May 1977, he suffered a cardiac arrest that proved fatal to him and he passed away at the age of 37.
