Government claims permanent reduction in inflation for 4 weeks

A meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.

The Finance Secretary briefed the participants of the meeting and said that the prices of essential food items have been reduced by zero point 22 percent.

According to the finance secretary, inflation has been steadily declining for the past four weeks, with prices of wheat, tomatoes, onions, potatoes and poultry falling sharply.
During the meeting, the Finance Minister took notice of the increase in prices of eggs and ghee in the country and asked the provincial governments to closely monitor the prices.

Abdul Hafeez Sheikh further said that Secretary Commerce should meet the representatives of provincial governments and FBR in this regard.

The Secretary Food Security briefed on the current situation of wheat and sugar stocks and said that better supply of wheat and sugar has significantly reduced the prices.
