BADIN: Ms Reena Kumari Meghwar, who had allegedly contracted free-will marriage with Qasim Khaskheli some six months back, has been handed over to her parents on the court orders on Monday.
Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Sethar, the SSP Badin talking to this reporter confirmed that a young Hindu girl, who was rescued by police teams from Kario Ghanwar town on Sunday was produced in the district and sessions court in Badin on Monday.
” The court on her request allowed her to live with her parents after she was produced in the court” added Mr Sethar.
He said that after the court orders he himself handed over the girl to his father Rano Meghwar and mother Devi Meghwar in his office. Mr Sethar said that four persons including Qasim Khaskheli along with three of his alleged accomplices including Raffiq Ahmed, Mohammad Juman and Azeem Khaskheli had been arrested after an FIR under sections of 376, 365, 506/2 and other relevant sections of Pakistan Penal Code were registered as per the court order and on the demand and complaint of Rano Meghwar, the father of the girl.
The SSP said that police on his orders had recovered the girl twice but Reena during her production in the courts she had admitted of contracting free-will marriage with Qasim Khaskheli and orders of the courts she was allowed to live with her alleged spouse.
Mr. Sethar said that he had also directed the police officials to provide police protection to Ms. Reena and her parents.
“I have given her a mobile phone set to remain in contact with the police officials in case of any eventuality and a police picket has also been set up outside her house in Kario Ghanwar town” he said.
“I was continuously tortured and abused by Qasim and his relatives so much so that I also tried to commit suicide few weeks back ” she addded and said that after the painful ordeal for past six months she had decided to flee from their ‘detetion’ and went her parents.
Ms. Reena claimed that she had recorded the statements in favour of the accused during her production in the courts by police teams first in Hyderabad and then again in Badin, under duress and pressure by her alleged kidnappers. She alleged that she was subjected to sexual abuse and torture .
Other hand Mr. Qasim Khaskheli speaking to the media persons again claimed that they had contracted the free-will marriage in the court after she had converted, adding he claimed some influential persons under a conspiracy got them separated by misguiding his wife and her parents.
