Today is the 26th death anniversary of Sarmad Sindhi whom most of youngsters loved more than even their beloved girl friends. Sarmad was among a few fortunate singers who never followed fame, appreciation and respect but in fact was followed by them wherever he went and whatever he sang. I still remember while inviting the vice Chancellor of our University, Agricultural University, when he heard the name of Sarmad Sindh who was to come to the function, showed displeasure that there was no any good singer to be heard. But he same Ph D doctor I saw him almost dancing with the melody of Sarmad’s songs. He was a magician, those who heard him live must be agree with me that he was simply a magician.
Though he got little training of singing yet he sang with sincerity and devotion which led him to the heights of glory and popularity, people just to have a glimpse of him waited for many hours in different programmes to listen to him. He was my companion and fellow singer and I still remember his passion that he used to sing voluntarily across the province in different programmes specially national celebrations and nobody can do it without devotion and sincerity. His melodious songs were very much equally liked by all age groups. His careful selection of verses, sincerity and handwork made him very popular and created a very large number of fans. Unfortunately he left this world at the age of only thirty five and it was the time when he grew up and became a mature singer. he is remembered till today and the people of Sindh love him a lot and will be remembered forever.
