Sindhi Adabi Sangat Shikarpur organizes Shaikh Ayaz Mushairo

SHIKARPUR: A program to commemorate and pay great tribute to Shaikh Ayaz, an eminent poet of Sindh, was convened by Sindhi Adabi Sangat Shikarpur branch at Scout Divisional Headquarters Shikarpur, here on Saturday.
Shaikh Ayaz, a famous Sindhi & Urdu poet of Sindh belonging to Shikarpur district, was born on 2nd March 1923, before partition, at Shaikh Muhallah Shikarpur, by profession he was a lawyer, but he also served as the Vice-Chancellor of Sindh University Jamshoro, after inspiring from the services of Shaikh Ayaz and he was appointed by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto during his regime after inspiring from his services as well as he also honored with Sitara-i-Imtiaz” on keeping an eye over his literary services.
Ayaz Gul, a famous poet, presided over the program while Adal Soomro, Jawad Jaffari were honorary guests in the program.
Mukhtiar Soomro, the General Secretary SAS Shikarpur branch, said that we are starting the activities of the new year by holding a Mushairo to commemorate and pay great homage to Shaikh Ayaz who had the inspiration of every poet.
At least one and a half dozen poets read out their written poetry and Ghazals during the program.
Mahboob shah lakyari, Nasim Bukhari, Sajjad Mirani, Amar Iqbal, and a large number of poets belonging to Shikarpur district and its surrounding districts participated in the program and paid homage to Shaikh Ayaz.
