KARACHI: The meeting of the Standing Committee on Energy of the Sindh Assembly was chaired by Chairman Committee Member Sindh Assembly Arbab Lutfullah.
In the meeting, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh briefed the standing committee.
The meeting expressed satisfaction over the performance of the Ministry of Energy and appreciated the efforts of the Minister of Energy.
Briefing the meeting, Imtiaz Sheikh said that Thar Coal Project is a part of CPEC and fool proof security has been provided to the employees of Sindh.
The Sindh Energy Minister urged the Sino Sindh Company to immediately ensure the deployment of doctors and paramedical staff for the health facilities of the employees and arrange modern ambulances to deal with emergencies, to provide employment to the local people. Saino Sindh Company ensures recruitment of 70% local population.
On which all the committee members expressed confidence.
The meeting was briefed on the implementation of the provisions of the agreement reached between the local community in Thar Coal Mining Field Area Block-1 and Messrs. Sino Sindh Resources Pvt. Ltd.
On this occasion, instructions were given to ensure full implementation of all the points of the agreement.
Briefing the meeting, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh clarified that no abuse would be tolerated against the workers and residents of the project area working on all the development projects under the Sindh government and the concerned companies has been directed to pay due compensation to the affected persons in any case and not to do any negligence in this regard otherwise action will be taken against the negligent persons as per law.
It was clarified in the meeting that the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the PPP have a clear policy to give all possible assistance to the development companies in the province but before that all the companies should fully ensure the all rights of the residents of the project area in accordance with the agreement and no negligence will be tolerated in this matter.
It was clarified in the meeting that the Sindh government is the guarantor of protection of the rights of all and will not allow anyone’s rights to be violated.
Briefing the meeting about the incident of Dodo Bheel, it was informed that ithe FIR regarding incident of Dodo Bheel was registered against the nominees by the heirs of Dodo Bheel and arrest was made.
Dodo Bheel’s family was also given Rs 10 million by the Sindh government and Rs 5 million each to those injured in the incident.
