Thar Science Festival gets underway in Mithi

MITHI: The two-day Thar Science Festival 2021 began in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Cultural Complex in Mithi town of Tharparkar district on Friday.
The mega event has been organized and sponsored by Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, District Education Department and Thar Education Alliance to promote competitiveness among the students of the desert district.
Mr Mohammad Nawaz Soho, the Deputy Commissioner of Tharparkar after inaugurating the colorful event spoke to the media persons and said that such events and festivals were the need of the hour to provide the cordial atmosphere to the students to showcase and to exhibit their skills and talent before the world.
He said that one could easily understand that the desert district had no dearth of talent among its students after witnessing the wonderful science models made and displayed by the students at various stalls at the venue both from private and government schools from across the district.
Advocate Veerji Kohi, the special assistant of Chief Minister on human rights, who attended different sessions of the festival said that the students of the events proved the fact that there was no dearth of talent among the youths of the desert district. He said that the PPP government in Sindh had always given special attention to the core issues of the district and assured that more mega projects were in the pipeline to provide the required facilities across the district .
Mr. Kolhi observed that the process of educating the girls had always been the big issue of the region and said that incurring droughts and famines and the subsequent migration of the people from their villages to the barrage areas of Sindh was one core issues depriving both girls and boys of their basic right to the education in their own permanent villages. “We have coped up with droughts and its terrible impacts on the human activities to great extent in Parkar region by constructing the small dams to store rainwater during the monsoon season ” he added.
Mr. Partab Shivani, the chief executive officer of Thar Education Alliance said that that their second attempt to organize such festival to promote and project the talent of Thari students would be very fruitful for those participating in various features of the festival adding he hoped that their fresh endeavor would also attain success and would surely draw the attention people of Pakistan and beyond towards the various features of the festival.
The eminent rights activist and philanthropist Ms. Meena Gabina, Mr Farhad Jarral and Kapil Dev speaking to the data driven digital Campaign observed that the better use of the various social media applications had left the very positive impacts on the whole scenario of the district and people especially youths were doing the marvels by sharing the pictures and other stuff on the social media which he said had proved a milestone in introducing all the beautiful aspects of Thar and its other chronic issues.
Mr Shushil Malani, Advocate Kashif Bajeer and other activists speaking to the participants of the session of the child parliament of Thar said that that model permanent was formed by the activists of Thar Education Alliance with the sole aim to inculcate the leadership qualities among the students of Thar. They highly lauded the efforts of all those who organized the festival and those who took keen interest in the models prepared and displayed by the students at their respective stalls.
