Two Policemen Killed Two injured in an Attack by Armed Assailants near Gharo

THATTA: In a tragic incident two policemen were killed and two others sustained injuries when a group of armed men opened indiscriminate fires on a police party near Barbara area of Gharo town of district Thatta in the early hours of Wednesday .
According to details when a Police team reached near the disputed farmland under illegal occupation of few influential land grabbers of the area the armed goons deployed at the land opened indiscriminate fires on the police team leaving ASI Shafi Mohammad Murger and constable Ali Nawaz Chanar dead on the spot while DSP Mirpur Sakro Ghulam Rasool Siyal and SHO Gharo Mumtaz Brohi sustained injuries.
The bodies of martyred policemen were brought to a government hospital in Gharo however SHO Mumtaz Brohi was discharged after the treatment while DSP Ghulam Rasool Sial was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors.
While talking to media men outside the Gharo Hospital Mumtaz Brohi said that an FIR against notorious criminal Sadro Walhari and his other goons was registered at the Gharo police station for illegally occupying farmland in the Babra area of Gharo.
He said that a police team in the wake of that FIR reached the site to evaluate the ground realities when around a dozen armed goons who had already taken position ambushed them. It was a pre-planned attack he observed, adding that few notables of the area were also involved in this ruinous incident. ASI Shafi Mohammad Muragr was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard with full police honor, however, the body of constable Ali Nawaz Chanar was taken to Sanghar his native town for burial.
According to the reports reaching here in the evening, a strong contingent of Thatta police launched a comprehensive operation in the Babara area of Gharo that was under the control of armed assailants for the past three days and gunned down notorious criminal Sadro Wlahari. While talking to the media SSP Thatta Dr. Mohammad Imran Khan confirmed the killing of the criminal who was wanted by the police in over a dozen cases. He said that the operation would continue until the perpetrators and their abettors did not meet their fate.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took notice of the tragic incident and directed IG Sindh and the Chief Minister to take strong action against the influential land grabbers and the delinquents involved in the episode.
