Brave young man of Kashmore police

By: Abdul Samad Younis

Unfortunately, the increasing number of rape cases in the beloved homeland is nothing short of a tragedy. The main reason for the increase in such incidents is that the accused do not fall into the hands of the law or are not convicted of their crime after arrest. A similar incident of brutality took place recently in Kashmore district of Sindh where an accused named Malik Rafiq lured a woman to Kashmore from Karachi and raped her and her young daughter and then took a five-year-old girl hostage. He demanded that she not be released until she brought another woman from Karachi for him. When the victim contacted the police and informed about the incident, ASI Muhammad Bakhsh Barero of Kashmore police called the accused on his wife’s phone to arrest the accused and went to Kashmore Park with his daughter and the victim. I waited for the accused where he was scheduled to meet. Police arrested the accused as soon as he arrived. Sindh Police, civil society members and government officials paid tribute to Mohammad Bakhsh Barero and his family for this exemplary move. Inspector General (IG)

Announced a cash reward of Rs. 2 million to the ASI and his family and said that many police personnel had sacrificed their lives in the line of duty but the incident at Barero was unique because they did not pay much. Omar also risked his daughter’s life to save the life of the girl and arrest the accused. If the police act responsibly, it can eradicate lawlessness in the society.
