The Prime Minister’s Chairman, Corona Task Force Committee on Science and Technology, Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman, has stressed on the need to develop vaccines at the local level to curb the growing cases of Corona virus in the country.
“Scientists around the world, especially in European countries, have observed a change in the new wave of corona virus. In Karachi, we have also discovered a virus similar to the one discovered in the UK,” he said.
Speaking to a private TV channel, he revealed that more than 200 companies are currently working on vaccines to deal with the new virus.
Referring to the effectiveness of the vaccine, Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman said that it would take a long time for the vaccine to be authentic and its effects on people’s health. Scientists at the university are examining the mutations in the virus.
“Pakistan will import vaccines to protect people from the deadly virus. The country needs to promote research-based work so that our scientists can be able to develop vaccines locally,” he said.
