Heavy school bags….

By: Ahmad Amir Qureshi

The trend of overcrowded school bags in the homeland has been a long-standing problem in that they weigh far more than the age and ability of children, for which there is no moral justification. According to health experts, excessive weight lifting not only affects the physical development of the child, but also unnecessary weight can lead to any accident for them. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to legislate in this regard by setting the weight of school bags from primary to class XII and has set an example for other provinces by introducing the Limitation of Weight Bill in the Provincial Assembly. After approval, the law will apply to all public, private, primary and secondary schools in the province. One and a half kg for KG, first second class 2.4, third class three kg, fourth 4.4, fifth 5.3, class six 5.4, 5.8 for seventh, eighth class 5.9, 6 kg for ninth, 6.5 for tenth while eleventh and twelfth class The weight of the bag is set up to seven kg. The draft bill states that violations will result in departmental action and a fine of up to Rs 200,000. This is a good development, which should certainly apply to educational institutions across the country, but it should also be noted that many children commit suicide. In addition to textbooks, they also keep toys and sports toys in the bags, which makes them gain weight. In this regard, parents should also keep an eye on the children’s bags and keep books and stationery in them according to the timetable. Should also be required to check bags in this regard, but it should not be applied to lunch.
