Omicron: Danger waving over our heads

By: Muhammd Farooq Sargani

Sindh, especially Karachi, is witnessing a phenomenal increase in the incidence of new type 19 code Omicron. Three hundred and fifty people were found in the city yesterday in a new form of the global epidemic, marking the beginning of the fifth wave of corona virus in the country’s most populous city. According to the Federal Department of Health, 403 new cases of Covid 19 have been reported in Sindh in the last 24 hours, out of which 321 are from Karachi. Federal Minister for Planning and Special Measures Asad Omar also warned the people on Twitter that “there is clear evidence of the beginning of another code wave which was expected in the last few weeks”. Health officials say the main reason for the rapid spread of the epidemic in Karachi is the lack of vaccination of 60 per cent of the population in the city of 30 million people, which has led to the spread of a new type of corona like wildfire. Is done In this case, Lahore is second only to Karachi and here too the proportion of vaccinators is only 50% so far. In Islamabad, the rate is satisfactory at 80%. However, in view of the rapid spread of Omicron in different parts of the world, all citizens who have not yet been vaccinated should be vaccinated immediately, from home. Outside markets, offices, workplaces and mosques should be completely banned from wearing masks again and all necessary measures should be taken to increase immunity to prevent the disease and its severity in case of attack. Economic recovery process Efforts should be made to keep the situation under control without lockdown.
