Participation of women in agriculture sector would enhance agro economy: Qabool Mohammad Khatian

BADIN: The participation of women was essential for development and progress of society, the Sindh province and beloved homeland Pakistan.
These views were expressed by Mr. Qabool Muhammad Khatian, Chairman, Area Water Board while addressing the seminar title of “Role and participation of women in the fields of agriculture and Irrigation” held in Gymkhana Hall Badin organized by the Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) with collaboration of Area Water Board.

Khatian expressed that the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was to empower women and their participation in each and every field to bring out real change and for the cause PPP and government of Sindh was doing on prime priority.
He said participation of women in agriculture would enhance agro-economy. He said government of Sindh was taking efforts for proper and justified distribution of water including provision of irrigation water to tail end, excavation of drains and canals, maintenance of regulators and others. He said they were taking efforts to overwhelm water shortage.
The Mr. Amjad Baloch, Regional Head of SPO, Hyderabad apprised about the initiatives and efforts taken by SPO including trainings to women for their employment and better future. He said on the recommendation of Area Water Board and SIDA and suggestions submitted by SPO Sindh Assembly has approved SIDA amendment bill and representation of women was mandatory.
The seminar was participated by Chairman, Area Water Board, Qabool Mohammad Khatian, officials of Agriculture and Irrigation departments, representatives of women organizations and rural women of Hyderabad, Badin and Thatta districts.
The seminar was also addressed by Ali Nawaz, Mukhtiar Khaskheli, Shamim Khatti, Marvi Abida Samoon, Paras Shah, Zeeshan Ali and others.
