SHO, others granted bail in Ramzan Samoo murder case

Thatta: Suspended SHO Gharo Police Station Yaqoob Bhatti and his two subordinates were granted bail in the Ramzan Samoon Murder case by a Model Trial Cout of Thatta here on Wednesday.
The other two accused Sohail Arain who is an influential landlord of the area and his accomplice Liaqat Jokhiyo were also granted bail, in this case, a few days ago.
According to the sources, the bail in the murder case is the outcome of an out-of-court settlement between the heirs of Ramzan Samoon and Sohail Arian following that no objection was raised by the prosecution over the bail application filed by the accused.
After hearing the arguments of Aijaz Jumani learned counsel on behalf of the applicant the Honorable Court released SHO and his two subordinates in the Ramzan Samoon murder case. Ramzan Samoon, a laborer, was picked up last year by the Gharo police for interrogation after Sohail Arain lodged a complaint against him pertaining to theft. During the ruthless torture in police custody, he fell unconscious and was taken to Rural Health Center Gharo where he succumbed to the injuries he had suffered because of torture.
After a day-long noisy protest by the relatives of Ramzan Samoon, an FIR was lodged against the SHO, his subordinates, and other two private persons. Besides, the SSP suspended all three police officials involved in the episode. The accused had got pre-arrest bail in the case bail in the case by District and sessions court Thatta that was canceled by The Sindh High Court earlier this year and all five accused were arrested from the premises of the court.
